Critical Lift & Pick | Warren, Michigan
NADC completed the removal of rooftop production equipment at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant in Warren, Michigan. The approximately 150,000-square-foot scope included seven rooftop oven sections, heater boxes, two RTO units and several hundred feet of associated ductwork.
The work required NADC crews to cut, rig and crane-hoist equipment from the roof to grade while plant production remained active. Tight crane access, an adjacent operating powerhouse and overhead lines required careful planning and coordination throughout the removal process.
Selective demolition and crane-assisted removal of seven rooftop oven sections, heater boxes, two RTO units and several hundred feet of ductwork across approximately 150,000 square feet of rooftop work area.
Active automotive manufacturing facility with ongoing plant production, limited crane placement, an adjacent operating powerhouse, overhead lines and rooftop structural considerations.
All demolition and equipment removal was performed from the roof of an active automotive manufacturing facility. Plant production continued throughout the project, requiring NADC to carefully coordinate crane operations, rooftop demolition and material removal around ongoing facility activity.
Crane placement was limited by tight access in the alley, an adjacent operating powerhouse and overhead lines. The interior area below the work zone also had to remain barricaded, while existing roof leaks required NADC to maintain water control during demolition activities above.
NADC coordinated the crane-assisted removal sequence around the rooftop work area, equipment locations and site constraints. Crews cut and rigged the oven sections, heater boxes, RTO units and ductwork before each component was hoisted from the roof to the ground.
Portions of the oven sections were demolished directly on the roof using a Volvo 140 excavator positioned on crane mats to support structural stability. NADC also maintained barricaded work areas below the roof and coordinated operations around ongoing plant production, limited crane access, the adjacent powerhouse and overhead lines.
The full scope was completed without incidents or injuries.
