What Is Site Clearing & Preparation?

Site clearing and preparation is the process of removing remaining structures, foundations, debris and below-grade infrastructure to prepare a property for its next use. Depending on the project, work may include excavation, concrete and foundation removal, material processing, backfilling, grading and other earthwork required following demolition.

NADC performs site clearing and preparation as part of demolition, decommissioning and redevelopment projects across industrial and commercial properties. Each scope is planned around existing site conditions, environmental requirements, drainage, remaining infrastructure and the owner’s intended final condition

A Planned Approach to Site Clearing & Preparation

The condition of the property after demolition is an important part of the overall project. NADC evaluates remaining foundations, below-grade structures, site elevations, drainage and material-handling requirements to develop a clearing and restoration plan aligned with the property’s next use.

Site Conditions & Final Requirements

Existing structures, foundations, utilities, below-grade features, drainage conditions and the owner’s final site requirements are reviewed before clearing activities begin.

Foundation & Below-Grade Removal

Concrete slabs, foundations, pits and other remaining infrastructure are removed as required by the project scope and planned future use of the property.

Excavation, Backfill & Material Processing

Excavated areas are addressed using appropriate backfill while concrete and other materials may be processed on site for recycling or reuse when project conditions allow.

Final Grading & Site Restoration

The site is graded and restored to the required final condition, with drainage, erosion control, dewatering and dust-control considerations incorporated as needed.

SABIC Plant Decommissioning & Demolition

Washington, West Virginia

Following phased demolition across the approximately 100-acre facility, NADC removed concrete slabs, tank bases and other remaining concrete structures. Concrete was crushed on site and reused for the final grade, while the property was sloped and restored to manage drainage and support future development.
