What Are Critical Lift & Pick Services?

Critical lift and pick services involve the planned lifting, movement and removal of heavy, oversized or high-consequence components where precise execution is essential. NADC evaluates the load, equipment, rigging, site conditions, access and surrounding operations to develop an engineered approach for each lift.

NADC provides critical lift planning and execution to support dismantling, equipment removal and asset recovery projects. Work may include engineered rigging, lift sequencing, load monitoring and controlled component removal using qualified personnel and equipment selected for the specific conditions of the project.

A Planned Approach to Critical Lift & Pick Services

Critical lifts require detailed planning before equipment is mobilized or a load is moved. NADC evaluates the component, lifting requirements, site conditions, equipment configuration and surrounding operations to develop a coordinated approach for safe, controlled execution.

Lift Planning & Engineering

Load characteristics, pick points, crane requirements, rigging configurations, clearances and site conditions are evaluated to develop a project-specific lift plan.

Equipment & Rigging Coordination

Cranes, rigging systems, lifting devices and support equipment are selected and coordinated based on the load, access requirements and planned sequence.

Site & Load Preparation

The work area, access routes, equipment setup and load are prepared before the lift, including required separation, stabilization and coordination with surrounding operations.

Qualified personnel execute the lift according to the established plan, maintaining communication and load control through removal, movement and final placement.

Continuous Ship Unloader

Kalaeloa Barber’s Point Harbor, Hawai‘i

Precision dismantling and heavy lifting of a large continuous ship unloader, including six 80,000-pound counterweights and a maximum pick of approximately 140,000 pounds. Detailed 3D modeling and lift planning supported the controlled removal sequence.

Selective Demolition

Cargill Salt – Hersey Plant

Hersey, Michigan

Selective dismantling of a conveyor system requiring seven planned picks, including conveyor sections, support structures and steel components. Careful sequencing and lift coordination helped NADC complete the work in six days—approximately two weeks ahead of schedule—with no safety incidents.

Ford MAP North Roof Equipment Demo

Warren, Michigan

NADC cut, rigged and crane-hoisted seven rooftop oven sections, heater boxes, two RTO units and associated ductwork to the ground. The work was completed within a tight crane setup area alongside ongoing plant operations, an active powerhouse and overhead utilities.
