NADC completed the dismantling and demolition of two recovery boiler buildings and their associated process systems within an operating paper mill.
The project included boilers, process equipment, piping, ductwork, tanks, a precipitator, a chipper structure and concrete foundations located beside active plant operations.

The recovery boiler buildings were tightly surrounded by operating plant infrastructure. Clearances ranged from only six inches to six feet on three sides, with live pipe trestles and process operations immediately beside the demolition area.
Limited access required structures and equipment to be removed in small sections. Because there was little space to sort or stockpile materials, debris and salvage had to be processed and transported from the site continuously.
NADC installed scaffolding around three sides of the boiler buildings to support brick removal and provide engineered protection for nearby process piping.
Once the exterior was prepared, a Volvo 700 high-reach excavator was used to dismantle the structures from the top down. Equipment and structural components were strategically lowered for processing, while daily planning meetings with plant representatives coordinated demolition activities around ongoing operations.
